Nam Tran

Tran is an award-winning practitioner who exhibits internationally. He specialises in wheel-thrown raku, bringing years of experience and craftsmanship to every object made. He focuses primarily on exploring the physical properties of clay and experimenting with alternative firing techniques which are key characteristics of his work. Nam likes to create pieces inspired by his childhood memories of video games and toys with a modern twist. He fuses these creations with experimental techniques and finishes, making them classic works of art in their own right.

Since appearing as a contestant on BBC’s The Great Pottery Thrown Down 2017 and C4’s Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas on Channel 4, Nam has been in high demand to conduct lectures, demonstrations and workshops around the country. He has held several education positions including at UCL’s prestigious Bartlett School of Architecture. He studied at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Arts and currently owns and runs two ceramic studios to support the next generation of ceramic artists.
